Finalised Mashup & Bridge inspirations

Mash up

Small investors will find the line long and hurdles high to get even a handful of shares of Facebook, as Facebook continues to dominate the world with their popularity over the citizens of the world. On the other hand, Coca Cola wants to try getting a piece of Facebook's shares by showing off their good reputation and awareness to bring positive impact to this world. Although they might be quite defensive with their products, they yield some of the most talented and distinguished workers that can possibly help to take over Facebook. Coca Cola is very secretive about their work, but will they possibly reign over Facebook, even in this difficult economic climate?

Bridge

I want to create a bridge that emphasises the ideas of:

line long and hurdles high .... handful of shares. - Facebook
difficult economic climate...- Coke

So for the "line long and hurdles high", I want to create something on the bridge that creates an illusion of being very difficult and hard to go through, but actually it's not. It kind of represents how in my mash up, Facebook is dominating and powerful, but Coca Cola wants to overtake them and reign the world. To incorporate the "difficult economic climate...", I'll probably have to work on my terrain or maybe bridge to make it seem "busy" (?)

This was my first attempt to make a bridge that I made, but I need to put it into Crysis and test it first.

Week 2- Two point perspectives & Elevator

First attempt- Elevator:

For this first attempt, I followed Russell Lowe's video tutorial and successfully  made a typical up and down elevator. These are three screen shots of the views I had. I want to somehow link the waterfall with the bottom of the terrain.

First in line are those with the big resources and long-term investment plans, such as insurance companies, pension funds and mutual funds. They will get the lion's share of the handout.
Retail brokers say requests for the shares are high, and they will mostly divvy up what they receive between their best customers.
Facebook may be the year's hottest stock issue -- but try getting a piece of it. Small investors will find the line long and hurdles high to get even a handful of shares.

Week 1 EXP 3- Valley Inspirations

Valley Inspirations

Throughout the week I searched for valleys that are located in Hong Kong but was unsuccessful, all i got was the Glenealy, Jordan Valley and Happy Valley. These places are considered to be "valleys" but they were all covered with buildings and apartments.

So the closest to Hong Kong was China, so i decided to search up the valleys in China. I stumbled across this really amazing valley called the Jiuzhaigou Valley (九寨溝) and was fascinated by its natural beauty.
Here are some photos:

And this is video of the valley.

For EXP 2 I did not work with waterfalls, so for this EXP 3, my challenge is to make waterfalls !

EXP 2 FINAL SUBMISSION - The Space Between

Electroliquid Aggregration

"In order to have original thoughts, students of architecture need to test their ideas, reiterate, go backwards and forwards, and be one with the environment around them. A narrow minded designer will imitate, go with the crowd, think in a linear fashion, and would only move forwards in a horizontal manner, but at the end they are invisible to the public."

The three textures used for the final building

5 Images captured on CryEngine3

2)

The dark texture on the side emphasises how some students continuously seek for new ideas, back and forth, generating unique designs in architecture. They don't imitate others so that they can be recognised within the public.

3)

The straight-lined texture at the top reinforces the idea of thinking horizontally and that those who continue in this manner, will never find their individuality within the architectural society.

4)
The gap in the middle (between the red sections) represents how narrow-minded designers would think.  They would ultimately become invisible within the public as they would only think in a horizontal manner.

Week 3- Electroliquid Aggregration & 36 Textures from light to dark

Electroliquid Aggregation

Morphing Aalto and Kengo's concepts together into a story to tell others.
Alvar- Rhythmic arrangement of elements mimics the tactility of the forest.
Kengo- Horizontality and low scale of the building complements the discreteness and invisibility of the architecture.

36 Textures from light to dark

Textures 1,2,3 represent the students that are narrow minded and only move forward in a horizontal manner, where they ultimately become invisible to the public (for example texture 1).

Textures 4,5,6 represent those students of architecture that think out of the box and experiment with their ideas. They continuously test their ideas, backwards and forwards, in which they discover their individuality.

Week 2- Second attempt in CryEngine3

I tried manipulating the first building and made it look less compact and squished together.

My second attempt in Cryengine3 went much smoother than attempt 1 as i was able to import the structure into Cryengine3 by Google Sketchup much faster. These are a few screenshots of what the building looks like in the new landscape. Similar to attempt 1, i kept the colours red and yellow, these signs are used to tell me where i would probably put the textures on.
